THE NEW VOICE OF THE RAMPAGE  

Meet Dan Weiss, the new voice of the San Antonio Rampage, where he's been named broadcast operations manager. 

Most recently as the director of broadcasting and team services for the ECHL’s Phoenix RoadRunners, the 29-year-old Weiss served as the voice of the Rampage’s 2006-07 ECHL affiliate in Phoenix, AZ. During his tenure with the RoadRunners, Weiss also called the shots for the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) and hosted the Phoenix Suns (NBA) “Planet Orange Pre-and-Post-Game Show” on Sports 620 KTAR.

Weiss’ 11 years of broadcasting experience has landed him all over the United States, including Texas where he served as the broadcaster for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays (CHL) during the 2002-03 season. He has called games for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (ECHL), worked as a producer at Sports Radio 850 AM WEEI in Boston and served as the host of “Arizona Cardinals Overtime” on both News 92.3 FM and Sports 620 KTAR.

Recognized as the 2005-06 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year, Weiss was selected to the radio broadcast team for the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, PA and the television broadcast team for the 2008 ECHL All-Star game in Stockton, CA.

A graduate of Northeastern University, Weiss earned degrees in communications and political science and served as the Huskies’ hockey play-by-play announcer.

In addition to calling all 80 Rampage regular season and playoff games, Weiss will also spend time in corporate sales, community relations and marketing roles for the Rampage.

SAN ANTONIO (October 2, 2009) – The San Antonio Rampage open the 2009-10 American Hockey League season tonight with 28 players on their roster. The Rampage host the AHL’s newest addition based in Austin, the Texas Stars, for their AHL debut tonight at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.

The American Hockey League begins its 74th season as 29 teams start down the road to the 2010 Calder Cup championship.  David Andrews, president of the AHL, will be in attendance tonight to commence the Stars’ inaugural season.

Rampage Training Camp Roster

San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving today announced that the club will open training camp with 35 players on their roster. Training camp begins today at the AT&TCenter from 9 -11 a.m. (please note that all practices at the AT&T Center are closed to the public).
The Phoenix Coyotes, the Rampage’s National Hockey League affiliate, assigned 13 players to the Rampage on Sunday including goaltenders Joel Gistedt and Josh Tordjman, defensemen Jonas Ahnelov, Chris Frank, Nick Ross, Sean Sullivan and Sean Zimmerman and forwards Justin Bernhardt, Mitch Fritz, Colin Long, Stefan Meyer, Andrew Orpik, and Matt Watkins.
The Anaheim Ducks, who currently do not have an American Hockey League affiliate, assigned eight players to the Rampage on Saturday including goaltenders J.P. Levasseur and Timo Pielmeier, defenseman Brett Festerling, and forwards Shawn Weller, MacGregor Sharp, Maxime Macenauer, Matthew Beleskey, and Dan Sexton.
The Rampage will play a trio of preseason games starting Thursday, Sept. 24 when they host the Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m. at Northwoods Ice Rink, the team’s official practice facility. The game is free to all Rampage season ticket holders and general admission seating can be purchased for $5 at the door.
The team will travel to Houston Saturday, Sept. 26 for an exhibition game against the Aeros at 6 p.m. at Sugarland Ice and Sports Center. On Sunday, Sept. 27, the Rampage will make their first trip to Austin as the Texas Stars host a 3 p.m. game in their new arena, Cedar Park Center, to round out the Rampage’s preseason game schedule.
