I completely understand the sentiment that Mack Brown should be allowed to finish out the season. He resurrected the program and led it to 2 BCS title games. He brought prestige. He earned respect. What message would that send though? Allowing him to stay on as lame duck coach, simply because you feel bad for him? The message would be that UT is STILL playing soft even when they push out their coach. If you can't be tough now perhaps you never will be. If they're ever going to get tougher as a program then they'll send a message that the old avant guarde ways are a thing of the past. Show your fan base that enough is enough and cut the cord. Show that you too can be a hard ass. Show high school stars that you're ready to get back to winning. Shake it up. Roll some heads. Mack has blown his chance to go out like Mariano Rivera. UT doesn't owe him that. Put a plaque up and write his bio in glowing words. Name something after him but don't ruin any momentum you can get on the coaching search by putting us through some cockamamie swan song. He had his chance to do that already but he messed it up by staying around too long and allowing the program to become a pansy.
