Father beats son for liking Oklahoma University over Oklahoma State

Gannon Mendez a father from Perkins, Okla. beat his son because the child rooted for Oklahoma University instead of Oklahoma State University. Gannon, 42, was charged with child abuse for allegedly striking his 9-year-old boy with a wooden paddle, KFOR-TV reported.
Investigators are claiming that this was not the first child abuse instance. An affidavit said Mendez allegedly would force the young boy to run until he vomited, and wake him up throughout the night to do pushups, according to KOCO Eyewitness News 5.
Mendez has a history as a controversial OSU booster.
According to a 2011 FoxSports.com story, OSU banned its football players from making contact with Mendez after he allegedly gave them “impermissible extra benefits.”
The 9-year old was taken to Payne County Youth Shelter.
